Guitar Hero 2

Ok. I admit it now. I'm hooked on Guitar Hero 2.

When i first saw the GT series I thought what a stupid game for 2 main reasons;

1. Has a naft peripheral. I despise peripherals specifically built for games. Look at the tragic road wrecks; DDR dance mats, Eyetoy, Time Crisis guns, Singstar, Buzz series. They were one-dimensional junk crap built around even crappier software that you would never ever want to be known as a pwnerer of these games.

2. It was a stupid rhythm game. Seriously rhythm games I don't even know if you can call them a game just tapping on buttons to music. It got harder by speeding up the music and making you hit stupid combos that didn't make any sense. Play for a few hours and go "oh that was different.. NEXT!"

But once you strap on that guitar, boot the game up.. it seriously just blew my mind man!!! GT2 is what Nintendo hope the wii remote will be; just a perfect integration of hardware, peripheral and software that just takes gaming to like another level! Here's what's so sik about GT2

1. It's sheer pick and play value. You can just pick it up, start on easy and just know what to do. No fiddling around with instructions, no trying to figure out the controls; the game is just made to be played with no fuss at all. A great example is that Tash is playing GT2. Not only is she just playing but she's actually playing through the campaign mode. THE CAMPAIGN MODE!!

2. It is a deep and hardcore game. Sure it's still a rhythm game but the whole way the guitar works it's not just a tap and bash game. On the Easy level its relatively straight forward but when you progress to the next level I was just totally overwhelmed by the extra difficulty. But you practice, force yourself to try and play it with guitar techniques like hammering, using the correct finger technique for chord and plucking sequences and man! You find yourself really improving and get this massive sense of satisfaction - not just beating the game but knowing your playing the song with rock solid skillz.

3. You can be a total rock god. I think the lead guitar is as mythological as like wanting to be a jedi knight, a ninja, astronaut, sports star etc etc. When you start owning the games you can like just totally rock out trying out all the air guitar moves! Pretend to be like Pete Townshend and do the windmill!!! haha!!

4. It is amaziningly addictive. If you told me that I would stand up for 2-3 hours playing a video game I would laugh at you! But that's what I've been doing. Trying to nail the songs; if I stuff up; do it again! Once I perfected it; go to the next one!! And with the 360 achievement points - get the next AP!!!

So for all you 360 owners and even PS2.. do yourself a favour and go pick up GT2 now! AND LET'S GET ROCKIN!!
